In the summer of 1986, Gavin wrote a song called “White Rabbit” — he says it describes a white rabbit that would chase the girl he loved. He was not very good at the song’s chorus, so he kept it as an ode to the song’s title in the liner notes: “This time I’m going to make a white rabbit.” His lyrics reflect this: “White rabbit… I’m coming home. And I’m going to ride to the place where no other rabbit has gone,” he sings in it’s chorus.

Years later, he was approached again with the melody for “White Rabbit,” but this time he found an older brother who was a producer at Epic Records. The younger brother said that a producer who worked on the last four albums, including the albums that would become “Rock n’ Roll All Nite”, had asked
