What to get a kid who likes to draw? – How To Draw Cars 3 Logo Blank

A few paper rounds, probably. A pencil and a pencil sharpener, of course. But for every child who likes to do that, there will be plenty who will learn to draw things on their laptops with the flick of a mouse button, thanks to the rise of virtual-reality applications for smartphones and tablets.

According to The Wall Street Journal, the popularity of VR has driven adoption levels of the digital drawing apps to record highs. The Wall Street Journal reported that more than 6.5 billion times a day, users are accessing 3 billion drawings from more than 35,000 apps, which could reach as many billion by the end of 2018.

While they work, users can create their creations in any of the many, many VR platforms. And that’s why some people are pushing for the development of virtual-reality-enabled apps so that these artists can share their works with a broader audience.

“We’re on the verge of a VR renaissance now, and I really do hope that this trend doesn’t stifle development of 3D drawing software,” David DeGroot, an artist and video game developer told Bloomberg. “I think virtual-reality might create a larger, broader audience for those who can’t afford a $60 VR headset. But it’s also about a kind of cultural shift that is far bigger than the potential for VR.”

While digital-drawing apps for smartphones have attracted the most attention, some are hoping that VR will bring about a rise of apps for the Oculus Rift virtual-reality virtual-reality headset.

The Rift is a consumer-ready version of Sony’s original PlayStation 3 console, which also plays videos, games and music. It uses PlayStation Move motion controllers to enable users to easily navigate a scene and draw on their screens.

In May, Oculus announced that the developer support for the headset was getting closer to being ready, allowing developers to develop software to run on the headset. It’s currently only possible to play Oculus Rift games through the Oculus PC game store, and it’s still not clear when the platform will support the Oculus VR software.
