SALEM — A Salem man will spend the evening of June 14 in the Salem Municipal Court after being charged with assault and battery after an assault in October that was caught on surveillance video at a Salem casino.
The video shows Kevin Lohring, 42, hitting another woman in the head, knocking her to the ground and lifting her head off the floor.
Lohring is also accused of punching and choking a second woman after she pushed him away from her in his casino parking lot in October. The second woman told police Lohring was holding a knife in an apparent attempt to take a purse from her without her consent.
Lohring’s arraignment is set for Thursday, June 17 at Salem Municipal Court.
Salem police have been investigating a series of assaults at the casino in the city’s North End, where most of the alleged assaults occur. The video in this case was taken inside the parking lot of the Fairbanks Casino and Resort on Sept 30.
The video comes after a recent attack on a woman at Southland Resort Casino in the city’s west side. Police said a 57-year-old woman was stabbed, but the assailant could not be located.
