How can I be a DJ?

This guide will introduce you to the fundamentals of DJing, covering the basics that every DJ needs to know in order to be able to play your songs.

You will discover how to create music on your computer and what you can do with it, such as remixes, sample swapping and remixing.

You will learn how much you have to do to make a good-sounding, professional-looking live DJ set so you can show the audience and anyone who wants to see what you are capable of with proper style and control.

You will also learn the techniques of DJing – like creating a mix and mastering your tracks, and learn to avoid the most common mistakes of DJing, like making bad recordings, making wrong setups and getting bored if you are too busy playing your music.

Your journey will take you from beginner levels to more advanced levels of DJing, culminating in a DJM Promaster Professional (or Promaster Pro +) and a Promaster Master (Promaster Master +).

After completing this guide, you will be qualified and able to work as a DJ of the highest calibre.

Step 1. Getting Started (Part 1 of 2)

First, you will need to download the DJM DJM Promaster Professional (or Promaster Master +) software.

Click the Download DJM button at the top right and follow the on-screen instructions to launch the software.

Once downloaded, you can immediately begin using the DJM DJM Promaster Professional (or Promaster Master +) Software as you proceed through this step-by-step guide to help you with your DJing.

(Optional) Step 2. Getting into Mixing with DJM DJM Promaster

Once the DJM DJM Promaster software is downloaded to your computer and you are comfortable with the software, use the “Select Tracks” button at the top right to move on to step 2.

Use the “Start Track” button to begin your tracks, and “Play to Start” to start playing to the song.

The Promaster software has a powerful mixer feature called “Mixer 2”, as well as a great DJM Promaster feature called “Mixer 1” which can be used to produce multiple songs or mixes without the need to add or change software.
