There has been a lot of debate about why. It seems to be the most natural instrument to play with. A lot of it comes from a culture that is very physical and has a very physicality to it. It’s just the natural thing to do. I love the fact that a lot of people are comfortable using it to play classical music.
What’s been your favourite ukulele player?
Dave Stewart who was an incredible ukulele player. Everyone who uses them seems to love him!
You wrote your ukulele tune for The New Mastersongs by Miles Davis’ band in 1969. Can you tell us why you wrote it that way?

You work in the studio with a great team over at London’s RCA Records. How important is it to you to be a part of a team, but still be able to go out on your own?
It’s vital to me to have some support at both ends. I’ve got a very tight-knit band. I make great music with a lot of people who have a lot of respect in their heart for me. I want to do
