In an interview with The Wall Street Journal earlier this week, Apple CEO Tim Cook was asked about Apple TV. The CEO of Apple went on to say that he’s very close to owning a Mac mini — or at least a Mac mini that had a 32-bit processor — and that, based on Apple plans, we’ll likely see a 32-bit Apple TV in the future.
This comes in stark contrast to previous statements made by Apple CEO Tim Cook. Specifically, Cook has said that the AppleTV project was started at Apple’s headquarters in Cupertino, California, and was then picked up by the “courageous” team at Apple who are working on it. The “courageous” team, of which Cook is a part, also includes current Apple TV hardware developers Tim Gable and James Thomson.
In a similar article written earlier in November by Forbes, Apple CEO Tim Cook also said that Apple believes iOS will never ship as a platform, citing what he claimed was a “rigorous” process. Cook did not comment further when asked about OS X in particular.
The Apple TV platform is expected to ship in 2015.
