I’ve tried it and it’s just not for me
I want to start a small dog food business, you can either make sure you aren’t caught selling or start a different business if the existing business is profitable. That way you would be able to sell your own product for the price you charge people.
I want to start a small dog food business (my mom is very passionate about it) but I don’t want to work under her. And my mom really wants to take it over (I understand my mom, but I feel like we should have a better working relationship than what it is right now). How can I approach her to discuss it?
Start as an entrepreneur. Start small, make lots of money, and keep making food.
I’ve heard that there is no money to be made by selling dog food and that you are essentially just going to be a pet food conglomerate (which you can be if you want to). But what do you say to that? I know some people are more interested in keeping their dogs healthy and happy and to keep them out of shelters while making money doing it. My mom said her first thought if this was a business was to start a food truck to make money, even though she is an experienced and successful businesswoman and she said she’d be happy as a dog owner if she was still able to see her family. She has kids, too. I just don’t think the money is there. If you can find a way to make the money for your family (which is just a matter of luck) I think that is a great start. I know that a lot of people are looking for a way to make money other than simply selling a pet food. I would assume you would be interested if you were and I would give you your opportunity. But the market doesn’t need another business to survive. There are enough farms and pet supply companies (many of them with some experience at it) to fill that void.
I don’t have much to say about this. I will let you do your own research. If that’s the case, by all means find out. But I do know that not many people would want to purchase and distribute raw and/or unprocessed food for dogs and cats. Yes, there is a huge demand for healthy and safe, tasty food for dog and cat lovers, but people simply don’t have the money (or the time)
